Austin, Tx. - April 1, 2008 - The sports poems themselves are often written as experienced, first person, up close, with a direct physical sense of action. Occasionally, a strong stream of consciousness is expressed. Though most of Adan’s sports poetry is participatory based, he also includes humorous spectator takes, such as “Sports Fan & Wife.”

april 3 '08

didn't get my commentary written as timely as i like, but definitely didn't not want to have one :-)

the release of this pr was of course timed for the final four of college basketball in san antonio, as part of my continuing series of news releases on the various aspects of my website

i had debated whether to contact david allan evans, mentioned above in my release, for permission for a quote, but decided against it for couple of reasons: one was time, i simply thought of doing the sports related release too late to probably get all the permissions and such; two, i realized i could still refer to his very good article on sports poetry just on my own anyway, and three, also must've realized on more of unarticulated level if i was gonna have a quote on my own release, it should be either from me directly, or, if from someone else, be about my own work

the sports poetry is fun for me to write; it's so visceral (i think that's the right word); and lends itself to extremely nice mentally or physically descriptive passages; sheer doingness can be emphasized, as well as emotional turbulence, and even mental anguish and grit (if one has some of the latter :-)

anyway, it should be fun this fall, prior to the world series and playoffs, when i post my baseball poems, with all the postitions covered!
