Artist's Comment: well, i had written this really touching timeline, of how i hadn't gotten started in theatre til my jr year at the University of Houston Clear Lake, and then my computer crashed - too bad this wasn't a poem about technology :-) i could do a perfect tie-in
the connection, of my computer crashing, to theatre, of course, is the re-doing, the re-enacting (with nuance hopefully) of presenting something over and over to a different audience (in theatre) or til gotten right (in film)
the same can hold true to some degree in writing and in painting, also with the struggle and desire to find that nuanced difference in a repeated motif
i suppose one could say this could also apply to relationships :-)
i did want to (re)add from the commentary i lost, that my first theatre class, a reader's theatre class, where we simply read a selection with the intent to interpret and express the written text, was a turning point for me - it marked the beginning of accepting the central role of the arts in my life

Actor
The fourth Wall. Stage right, stage left.
Things are a little turned around on stage.
Or magnified when caught by the camera.
Things grow bigger than life on a screen.
But the digging for a feeling
filling the role in the script,
that is basic.
Expressing dim or
burning feelings pent up
in the populace pleases everyone.
The actor becomes a
force expressed. Becomes
enlarged by the number, the closeness
of the people believing, wanting
to believe and remember
they also are alive with expression.
The actor becomes a
human icon
for everyone’s need to express.
